Meet the Team
Anna McKann
Anna founded Rainbow Childcare in 1988, but in more recent years has diversified into other childcare projects. She is the founder of R.C.C.International, a charity who believes in, stepping out in faith to help the children of the world and in a vision to build orphanages for abandoned babies and young children. She is also founder of Sharon House Publishing, a children’s book publishing company with a vision to produce books which impact children’s lives. To find out more, please visit the websites below.

Julie Sambrook
Julie has been qualified for 16 years in childcare. Recently she has worked on other projects undertaken by the proprietor at Rainbow Childcare, including children’s charity work, children’s book publishing and education. Julie has a wealth of experience in both the managerial field and childcare matters, and oversees many aspects of Anna’s businesses.
Catherine Wilkinson
Catherine is our nursery manager and began her career at Rainbow in 1994. She is qualified to NVQ level 3 in childcare and education, and has recently commenced a level 5 leadership and management course to further enhance her skills. With her knowledge and experience she guides and offers support and advice to all employees.
Kim Fisher
Kim is the nursery’s deputy manager and has worked at Rainbow since 2002. She is qualified to level 3 Cache diploma in childcare and education, and has commenced a level 3 leadership and management course. Kim oversees the nursery day in the manager’s absence but primarily works in our toddler suite with the children aged 2-3 years.
Nicole Lamming
Nicole has worked at Rainbow Childcare since 2006. Initially qualified to NVQ level 2, Nicole has further enhanced her training and is now qualified to NVQ level 3 in childcare and education. She is gaining valuable experience working alongside Kim in our toddler suite with the children aged 2-3 years.
Laura Baldwin
Laura works alongside Kim and Nicole in our toddler suite. She is qualified to NVQ level 3 in childcare and education and having started as a trainee, has now been part of the Rainbow team since February 2008. Laura is now gaining valuable experience and updates and enhances her knowledge as and when required through training both internally and externally.
Claire Wood
Claire began her career at Rainbow as a trainee and was offered a position upon completing her training in 2006. She is qualified to NVQ level 3 in childcare and education and is gaining valuable experience working in the sunshine room of our baby suite.
Rachel Loveridge
Rachel has been a member of the Rainbow team since 2005. She passed her NVQ level 3 in childcare and education in 2009 having initially been qualified to level 2. Rachel continues to build upon her experience and knowledge whilst working in the sunshine room of our baby suite. She also supports other staff members with regards to the Every Child a Talker initiative as she is our Early Language Lead Practitioner.
Amy Gunson
Amy is another member of our team who began her career at Rainbow as a trainee. She completed her NVQ level 2 training and became an employee in 2005. Having gained experience since then she is now working towards her NVQ level 3 in childcare and education. Amy works in the baby room of our baby suite.
Jane Sunderland
Jane is one of our longest serving members of staff and has worked at Rainbow since 1997. She is qualified to NVQ level 3 in childcare and education and regularly attends training sessions to update her knowledge and skills. Jane works alongside Amy in the baby room of our baby suite.
Sarah Charlesworth
Sarah is one of our more experienced members of staff having begun her career at Rainbow in 2000. She is NNEB qualified (NVQ level 3 equivalent) and is also one of our special educational needs co-ordinators. She works within the jungle room of our baby suite. To update and enhance her knowledge, Sarah attends both internal and external training courses.
Rachel Johnson
Rachel is the newest member of our team and has been employed part time since November 2009. She works alongside Sarah in the jungle room of our baby suite. She is qualified to NVQ level 2 in childcare and education, and when Rachel has more experience, we will encourage her to commence her training to become qualified to NVQ level 3.
Amanda Hodgson
Amanda is one of our most experienced members of staff and has worked at Rainbow for over 12 years. She is qualified to City and Guilds level 2 in childcare and currently works within our pre-school annex with children aged 3 years and over. Amanda regularly updates her knowledge through internal and external training courses.
Nicola Oakley
Nicola works alongside Amanda in our pre-school annex and has been a member of the Rainbow team since 2006. Qualified to NVQ level 3 in childcare and education, Nicola is also our Communication, Language and Literacy co-ordinator, and regularly attends training with regards to supporting other staff members in this area.
