Our pre-school annex offers excellent classroom and play facilities for 20 children. The nursery curriculum follows and incorporates the Early Years Foundation Stage, promoting all aspects of a child’s development.
The areas of learning within the EYFS are:
We have many continuous provision areas in which children can play, extend and enhance their learning, and all our adult led activities are differentiated according to the ability and needs of each individual child.
We received excellent feedback from our Ofsted inspection which took place in October 2009, a copy of which can be read via their official website at www.ofsted.gov.uk or a copy can viewed at the nursery.
We have extensive outdoor play facilities to promote all aspects of a child’s development. These include a climbing and balancing area, sand and water, a track to drive the vehicles and bikes along, and creative activities such as painting. To encourage environmental awareness we have a vegetable patch and herb garden where children can learn about growing their own food and a mini beast area to incorporate nature and investigation.
At Rainbow Childcare we believe books and reading are important. Therefore we access the school’s library service, and regularly take children to visit the library and choose books to have at nursery throughout the forthcoming term. Details of other outdoor visits, i.e. theatre trips, the farm etc. can be found in our newsletters.
